Olympic Fastball Coach coming to Sechelt

It´s been a while since we have seen that much rain. A few games were cancelled due to the rain and the water-logged infield.  Unfortunately, we had one of our Bantam players assisted off the outfield on Thursday night after a collison with one of his players. As a result of the collision, he ended up with a dislocated knee. We want to thank everyone who assisted with the injured player as well as the Sechelt Ambulance attendants "Becky" and "John".

This week, teams received their notices about the 3-day baseball camp with Olympic women´s fastball coach Mike Renney. Mike has been involved as a coach with Canada´s national women´s team since 1991. In 13 years with Team Canada, Mike has coached at the 1994, 1998 and 2002 World Championships, 1995 and 2003 Pan American Games and the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic games.

We need to ensure that we get the registration forms back by the end of May to get things organized.  The camp is open to ages 11 to 18 and is scheduled for July 12,13 and 14th. The costs is $50.00 per person who are registered in Sechelt Minor Softball.

There is another carwash this Saturday at Gilligan´s Pub Parking Lot. The Squirt washers are from 10-12, PeeWee from 12-2 and Bantam from 2-4.  We are hoping to get another good turnout of coaches, players, and anyone else who wants to volunteer.

A team made up of PeeWee boys from our league are travelling to a tournament in Richmond this weekend. This will provide a great opportunity for them to test their skill level by playing some lower mainland teams. We will give you an update next week on how they made out.

We want to wish all the teams well in week seven of the season!
